Learning Media
The concept
The concept of Learning Media is based on the idea that employment of software can have sensible positive impact on education if used reasonably. Despite the availability of many E-learning software solutions, only few programs however set themselves apart from an educationally dubious paradigm of a pure examination of »right« or »wrong«. Modern pedagogy's call for smarter software dies out mostly unheeded in the bulk of publishers underbidding each other through advertisements of brand new products which nearly all work according to the proven scheme.
Learning Media wants to set itself apart by seeking to find innovative teaching concepts. As a result of this project we aim to provide both teachers and students with a growing collection of freely available educational applications, games and other electronic material which can be profitably applied in teaching.
The first result: AnaVis
As the first software product applying to the concept of Learning Media, we have published AnaVis in spring 2011. In view of the large importance of visual learning, AnaVis enables its users to visualize music with regard to its form exposed over time. AnaVis was developed specifically targeting musical education, but its concept equally applies to movies or poems as well: AnaVis graphically represents work structures and enables new teaching practices.
Visualizations created in AnaVis can be saved as an image file or XPS document, allowing further use in other programs such as image or word processing software, in order to create a worksheet for example or to enrich a slide show with insightful illustrations.
